My Christian Faith

"What trauma destroys, Jesus can and does restore"

- Diane Langberg PhD, Christian Psychologist and A World Renowed Trauma Expert

As a Christian counsellor my stance is to walk this healing journey with my clients as Jesus would. Jesus understands the struggles, He cares about the struggles and He enters in to be with us in the struggles.

Suffering reduces a person's capacities, not just physically but also mentally, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. They become less of themselves. They may look fine on the outside, but the mind and heart wounds run deep and affect them profoundly. It is with this understanding that I work towards being God's representative to people who are suffering; to help others see, in the flesh, a bit of who our God truly is with His creation in the midst of their suffering. It is to bring God to others by who I am with them in their worst places.

One thing I endeavor to continue doing as a Christian counsellor is to grow in my personal journey with God. As Diane Langberg wrote "unless we are gripped by the truths of the Cross of Christ in our own hearts and lives, the hope and power of the Cross will not pass from us to others. We cannot give what we do not have".

"He was despised and rejected by mankind,
    a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
    he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed"
